Litz – Monterey Park

Litz is an old haunt, a Hong Kong style cafe that primarily serves Chinese-adapted Southeast Asian fare. And by Chinese, I mean less intense and pungent than the original, but still just as tasty. Hey, subtlety has its own charms, no?

Litz’s dated interior feels like a neighborhood cafe joint. The paintings and fixtures reminded me of those new home open houses that my parents took me to when I was a kid.
Litz’s laksa is to die for – generously portioned, even-flavored and oh-so-creamy. If there’s one dish to get at Litz, it’s laksa.
The baked Portuguese pork chop rice was interesting. We expected a tomato-based sauce and were surprised to see this curry-like mustard-colored goop coating the pork chops. Not what we expected, but still delicious.
